Guards are an enemy faction in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. They first appear both chronologically and level-wise in Release, where Richter attempts to break out of prison after a mass-prison riot occurs, presumably orchestrated by 50 Blessings.

The prison itself has a table of 50 Blessings pamphlets, and a group of three guards in the intro to Release possibly have knowledge of the ensuing riot, perhaps implying some vague connection to the group, or it could also mean that they are 50 Blessings operators disguised as security guards. It's notable that Richter's Mask is referred to as his 50 Blessings uniform, and that in lieu of a mask he dons a Guard uniform.

Guards are seen in prison, guarding inmates and are also seen protecting the Colombian-occupied bank in Blood Money, where The Son and two of his fellow henchmen conduct a heist. They're seen fighting alongside Colombians in Blood Money, which implies some sort of affiliation between the two factions. In both of their appearances they're implied to be corrupt and brutal.

Guards are also present at the court where Jacket's trial is taking place in First Trial, alongside Police Officers.

Enemy-wise, they function the same as Police Officers.

Appearance Edit

Guards are essentially re-colored Police Officers in terms of appearance. They are shown to be wearing light olive shirts and dark brown trousers with dark olive caps. Golden logos appear to be imprinted on their shirts and caps.

Trivia Edit

  • Guards are the only enemy faction in the entire series to not feature a specific Thug-type enemy, or any special enemies for that matter.
    • However, during the fourth and last section of Release, a Prisoner can be seen pinning down and beating up a rather obese Security Guard. Sharing the same overall body structure as the Thug enemies, it could possibly mean that there were intended to be a Thug-type enemy for Guards.
  • It is kind of strange that they all use the same uniform, no matter where they work. However it could have been done by Dennaton in order to not waste time on doing different sprites for them.
